About Me

Hi there! My name is Dr. Jess Ribeiro and I am a clinical psychologist licensed in Florida, North Carolina, and New Jersey. I am also certified to see patients in any state where PSYPACT is effective, which includes the majority of states in the US (see here to check the status of your state).

A bit about my professional training and qualifications: I earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Florida State University. After finishing my pre-doctoral residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, I completed post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University and Vanderbilt University. Across these experiences, I have received extensive training in leading evidence-based psychotherapies and have worked at all levels of care.

Aside from my clinical practice, I am also a professor of psychology at a large research university where I conduct research and mentor graduate students. I have been teaching our psychological interventions class and providing clinical supervision to doctoral students for several years.

I was named a “Rising Star” by the Association of Psychological Science and Best Early Career Researcher by the American Association of Suicidology as well as Behaviour Research and Therapy. For multiple years, I have also been recognized as “Highly Cited Researcher” by the Web of Science, which recognizes scientists whose work ranks in the top 1% of citations in their field. I have authored over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, many of which are in the field’s leading journals. My research has also been covered in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Scientific American, NBC, PBS, the BBC, among others.

A bit about me as a therapist: My style is thorough, thoughtful, and empathetic, with a bit of humor sprinkled in. I’m determined to work with you to get you back to living your life as quickly as possible and committed to delivering treatment that works to every patient. To do that, my approach is driven by leading scientific evidence and personalized to the individual strengths, challenges, needs, and goals of each of my patients.

A bit about me personally: I currently live with my husband, son, and our dog, Fig. I’m a Seinfeld enthusiast and carrot cake connoisseur. I enjoy being in nature and also love to travel — exploring the world, immersing myself in different cultures and languages, and discovering new experiences are some of my favorite things.
